Location Directors

IGLA is committed to providing each location with a dedicated director whose sole responsibility is to ensure a safe, fun, and well-run environment for each and every girl who plays. Please take a moment to read about IGLA staff and your location director below.

Rich Breitenecker


Rich Breitenecker grew up in Baltimore Md., where he played lacrosse for the Gliman Greyhounds. He went on to play a season for the Duke Blue Devils in 1988 and then ran the Duke University Men’s Club Program as Captain and Player from 1985-1988. He moved to Chicago in 1995 where he has lived in Lincoln Park for the past 22 years. During his time in Chicago he coached boys lacrosse for the Chicago Blues and Chicago Youth Lacrosse program for 7 years and then was head coach of the Latin High School Boys lacrosse club program in 2016. His daughter, Emily, plays for Lakeshore Lacrosse 2020 National Travel Premier Team, and his younger daughter, Allie, will play for IGLA this Spring. He looks forward to working with the IGLA girls program to make it a fun, fantastic experience!

Kevin Campbell


Kevin Campbell grew up on the NW side of Chicago, ran Track and Cross Country at Notre Dame High School in Niles, and started playing club Lacrosse at the University of Illinois in 1988. He went on to become the Head Lacrosse Coach at Red Arrow Camp in Woodruff, WI in 1990. Kevin has been coaching IGLA for the past 12 seasons. He and his wife Wendy have 3 daughters, all of whom play lacrosse: Ashley (14 @ Lane Tech), Ellen (12) and Brenna (9). In addition to being an IGLA certified Level I coach, Kevin is also an L2 rated official.

Helen currently lives in Winnetka with her husband and two daughters ages 8 and 6. She is a CPA and a graduate of Loyola University. Helen played on the Basketball team in high school, and is also passionate about dance and tennis. She is actively involved in school PTO as a room parent, girl scouts and co-chairs the Winnetka Village Club family social committee. Helen is very excited about her daughter’s new-found love of Lacrosse, and eager to learn and serve as part of the great IGLA community.

Chantal Meier


Chantal is a Wilmette mom and avid sports fan. She and her husband Eric, are the parents of three young girls, all of whom are now playing lacrosse. Chantal played high school volleyball, track and softball and continues to be active in all sports. She currently works full time as an international banker and enjoys juggling multiple roles throughout the day. She hopes to bring enthusiasm and passion for the game of lacrosse to the North shore, giving girls in the area another opportunity to excel and develop their love for all sports.

Craig Walter


Craig grew up in Eureka, IL. He studied Communications at the University of Illinois after serving in the US Army. He currently works in the healthcare industry and lives in Glenview. Craig played a variety of sports growing up and baseball in college, but his first exposure to lacrosse was when his daughter began playing in IGLA. He began as a Parent/Coach Volunteer and that paved the way for his taking over as the Director in 2016. He is looking forward to an exciting 2017 season!

Sue Medina

Karen Shenderovsky


Karen grew up in Palatine and now lives in Gurnee with her 5 children. She has 2 boys and 3 girls, all of whom currently play or have played lacrosse. Karen was first introduced to lacrosse after her son, Jake, started playing 6 years ago. Jake is currently playing his freshman year at Carmel High School where his older brother and sister have graduated and played lacrosse. Jake’s 2 younger sisters currently play for IGLA. Karen graduated from NIU with a B.S. degree and has coached youth soccer for multiple years and loves working with children. Sports are a huge part of Karen’s family and working with IGLA to bring girls lacrosse to Gurnee is amazing!

Steve Werntz


Steve Werntz has helped hundreds of lacrosse players by instilling strong fundamental skills and nurturing a love for the game. He grew up in Severna Park, Maryland and played at Severn, Severna Park High School, Hero’s Lacrosse and McDaniel College. Many of Steve’s coaches were All-Americans and he brings their knowledge, plus personal experience, to help your daughter be her best.

His daughter Molly began playing with IGLA as a second grader. She progressed to IGLA Purple level and is beginning her second year on the Lakeshore Lacrosse Team.
Along with her brother, Molly continues a four-generation tradition of playing lacrosse.

Heather Walker


Heather became involved with the IGLA after husband Lance began volunteering as a parent coach on daughter Megan’s IGLA team. Heather loves the game of lacrosse and started as the Director in Elmhurst in the Fall of 2015, continuing to learn something new about the game every time she’s on the field. Heather graduated from Florida State University with a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Heather and her family have lived in Elmhurst since July, 1999, where she works as a substitute teacher for a school that educates children with autism.

Bethanne Viren

Jeff Korb


Jeff has been active in coaching youth girls lacrosse teams of all age groups for the past 12 years in NY, OK, and IL. He currently serves as an assistant to the Naperville North HS girls lacrosse team. He thinks lacrosse is a great game for both individual and team skills and should always be fun!

Beth Grogan


Beth lives in Downers Grove with her husband and three children. She graduated from Loyola University in Chicago. Beth previously worked in radio and advertising. More recently, she spends her time volunteering at her children’s school, running several PTA committees. Beth has been a parent volunteer for IGLA and loves the welcoming nature of the organization. Her focus is to promote this great sport so other children can enjoy it as much as her children have.

IGLA is a women-run organization providing lacrosse opportunities for girls in Illinois. Each member of our staff has extensive experience in their field of expertise, and a passion for the growth and development of players in each community.

Jennifer Devens

Operations Manager; Marketing and Tournament Director

Jennifer comes to IGLA with a BA in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois. Her career has centered around marketing, advertising, and media, practicing her trade in Chicago, London and Boston, where she also worked in Public Relations. Jennifer is the “world’s greatest sports spectator,” and is thrilled to be involved in such an energetic organization that empowers and encourages girls to reach their full potential in lacrosse and in life. Jennifer is a native of Chicago and continues to call Chicago home, where she enjoys living along the lake with her husband and two children.

Lynn Merrill


Lynn grew up in Chicago and starting playing lacrosse at Loyola Academy. She continued playing at the club level at the University of Illinois where she majored in Spanish and International Studies. She currently directs the Illinois Girls Lacrosse Association and Lakeshore Lacrosse, coaches at Northside College Prep High School, plays on Lakeshore’s Adult Team, and is a US Lacrosse certified official.

Michelle Sebastian

Director of Coach Training, Co-Founder

Outside of running IGLA, Michelle, a former D1 player at Vanderbilt, is currently a Head Varsity Coach for Montini Catholic High School along with Virginia Kosenkova. The two began with a team which had never won a playoff game, and coached them to a state championship game in four years! Michelle formerly coached at Hinsdale Central and won a State Championship there. Michelle is also a mom and coach to her three daughters.

Carolyn Barnes


Carolyn grew up in Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Finance. She brings prior experience from a variety of financial management and analyst roles to the IGLA team. She moved to the Chicago area in 2007 with her husband and two sons. Carolyn has been active in her local PTA and enjoys watching her sons compete in soccer, track and golf.

Claire Banta

Operations Assistant, Player Development

Claire grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, and played varsity lacrosse all four years at Bishop Ireton High School. She went on to play Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Virginia. After graduating in 2013 with a degree in drama, Claire began coaching with Lakeshore and IGLA. She is also the head coach at Robert Morris University.

Devin McCue


Devin grew up on the north side of Chicago and attended Loyola Academy where she was one of the founding members of the lacrosse program. She went on to play Division lll at Allegheny College in western Pennsylvania. After 2 years in goal she transitioned to the midfield. After graduating in 2002 with a BA in Communication Arts, she came back to Chicago to work on her Masters degree in Education. She served as the head coach for both the varsity and junior varsity teams at Northside College Prep High School from 2003-2006. She has coached and directed for both Lakeshore Lacrosse and IGLA. She is currently the assistant varsity coach at Glenbrook South High School and Growth Spurts in Wilmette, Illinois.

Jacqui Lurie

Sponsorship, Uniform and Schedule Director

Jacqui graduated from University of Illinois with a BS in metallurgical engineering. After a career in IT management, she left to pursue working with non-profits that focus on developing girls. Jacqui founded the Fremd HS Vikettes (Flags) Parents Organization and is active in Girl Scouts on the Gold Award Committee, recruiting leaders, and leading girls in junior and senior high school. She and her husband Mike have coached and cheered on their three children through many sports in Palatine. When their youngest daughter expressed a desire to play lacrosse, they struggled to find a league that really understood the girl’s game, until coming across IGLA. They were so impressed that first season with playing and coaching, that they signed up for the US Lacrosse CEP Level 1 Coach Clinic and now all three are in their 5th season with IGLA.

Helder Weil

Director of Officials

After growing up in Colorado, Helder played varsity goalie with the top ranked Colorado State University women’s club team. Here in Chicago, she has taught middle and high school Spanish and has coached Neuqua Valley HS and Lakeshore Lacrosse Regional and National Travel. Helder also plays with the Lakeshore Women’s Lacrosse Club and is the proud/humbled mom of a high-octane toddler.

Bridget Olp


Along with running IGLA, Bridget is a nationally ranked official and officiates NCAA lacrosse. She also founded and operates Lakeshore Lacrosse.

Connie Loftis

Official Photographer

Connie began her career as a professional photographer in 1985. Throughout her photography career she has photographed events for Coca Cola, Stedman Graham Athlete’s Against Drugs, French American Chamber of Commerce and many other events including 13 years of weddings, bat mitzvah’s and private parties. After years of watching her two daughters play high school and college lacrosse she started shooting action photos of them. Connie started her sports action photography business ( in 2004 and came on board with Lakeshore Lacrosse and IGLA as our official photographer in 2005. Connie is passionate about lacrosse and it’s potential to build self-esteem in young women and to empower them to become strong and competent individuals on and off the field.

Kerry Kobe

Web Design

Kerry grew up playing lacrosse in Northern Virginia. She captained her high school lacrosse team in Arlington, VA and went on to play at the University of Notre Dame on the inagural Division I team. Since arriving to Chicago in ’98 she has always been involved in lacrosse to some extent or another – founding coach of the Hinsdale Central girls’ program, president of the US Lacrosse Chapter, a women’s umpire, and a adult league player. In addition to her fulltime job as VP of Information Technology at an investment firm downtown, she freelances doing website and graphic design around the city. Kerry has her MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management. She’s thrilled to be involved in IGLA’s website as well as the Lakeshore Lacrosse site.
